Back up important data
Hardware repair normally aims to preserve data, but unexpected failures can occur and some software procedures require a reset. Use a trusted cloud or computer backup when the phone is still accessible.
Record the device condition
- Take photographs of the front, back, frame and cameras
- Note existing cracks, dents and missing parts
- Write down the exact complaint and when it happens
- Mention liquid exposure or previous repair attempts
Bring relevant accessories
Bring the charger and cable when the complaint involves charging, battery drain, connection or overheating. For intermittent accessory problems, bring the accessory that triggers the fault.
Passwords and testing access
Technicians may need the device unlocked to test touch, cameras, audio, network and charging functions. You can remove sensitive content, use a temporary passcode where appropriate or remain available to unlock the device.
Remove SIM and memory card when preferred
Unless they are required to reproduce a network or storage complaint, you may remove the SIM and memory card before service. Keep them safely.
Confirm the repair estimate
Ask about the proposed repair, part option, expected cost, turnaround and applicable service terms before approving work.
